Damn that's pretty. Snow is wonderful! I tried to take a similar photo (not involving a stream/river) here a while ago when it snowed but it wasn't really what I wanted - this is just so much better! Fabulous light and shadow
Absolutely stunning image. Congratulations. It was the quality of your work that brought me to DA and you continue to impress me. Being from Quebec, I've attemped my share of snowscapes so I know how difficult they are. Nothing I've done compares with this.
Lens was a Pentax 16-45 DA. I shoot raw and do post production with every image...this one beyond the typical level adjustments and so on I wanted to bring out the contrast in the shadows in the foreground without blowing out the white at the top, so I processed the image two separate ways and then blended the versions together to get the effect.
Nice classy snow images. I would like some exposure information to go with it not that i have any snow of course, but it would be nice to know...taken at night? Ambient (street) lighting? How long exposure and all that....just being nosey!
This is a wonderfull shot, I like the shapes in this one and I think the title is very fitting, the little bumps scattered around are very interesting to look at, i especially like the few in the water, and curves between the dark water and white snow contrast nicely and the general shape reminds me of a 'yin-yang' symol. There seems to be balance in this shot, some white and black in each side, always strugeling for control or equality, very amazing work.
i love this shot
being from florida, snow holds a ceritn mystery and facination for me but this image really gives me the urge to wanna reach through my screen and touch it. this shot is very beautiful but it appeals to more of my senses than just sight, nice job!
keep up the great work
Stunning formations. Quite, or, very surreal. I'd like to have another view of the whole image, you know, where you can see nothing but the formations. Anywho, it's gorgeous, and I love the deep monochrome you picked aswell. Really fits in the mood.
Fantastic shadows, and I love the white snow contrasting with the dark water. The 2 snow covered rocks in the river are superb, and of course there's that nice natural s-curve.
At first I thought I preferred #2, but now I realise this one is my fav.
