I worked on this piece for a long time before I came up with the final version. After finishing it, I had some interesting dreams. I suppose I like confronting my issues. Some of you may have read my poem Nine Inches (which has been reposted at: [link] ). This piece here might be described as a kind of visual follow-up. I'm not saying you should read the poem, I only mention it for the benefit of those who might be curious as to my thinking behind this. And the image is meant to stand on its own in any case. (Although if anyone wants me to elaborate, let me know and I'll try.)
The image itself is made from two photographs I took: a harvested corn field in western Michigan and an old TV set in my basement. The photo of the field was adjusted for contrast and levels, warped and 'TV lines' added, and then fit into the frame of the TV set image. The TV set was then edited and the title was added.
I hope you'll full view it, though I'm sorry about the file size (I sized the web version down as far as I dared without loosing any more detail). Thanks for looking.
nice composition.. I like the oldschool tv border.. original!

"We are all hypocrites. It is in our very nature to be so. So much so that even our protestation of hypocrisy is, in itself, patently hypocritical."
OK. I think I need some elaboration. I've read Nine Inches and obviously I have viewed the picture above and I see there is a connection: the harvested crop fields and the roadside barns. All I gather is that you are afraid of not leaving your mark on this earth? Or you are afraid to procreate in a world that is just self-centered?

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
